"Baby you know we can't keep this baby, I just started working and you are just in 400 level, you will still go through NYSC and so many other things, let's abort the baby"
Wumi had been dating Kola for a year, he knew that he loved her and what he was saying were facts. She was a christian; a worker in her church, she had committed the first sin by engaging in pre marital sex and now she was pregnant with a baby she was not ready for.
She made up her mind not to let this baby growing in her womb to suffer for her wrongs, God was against abortion and she would not sin against God any longer. " I am sorry Kola, I am going to keep this baby, I know exactly how you feel but I can't sin against God any longer by killing an innocent child".
Kola glared at her in surprise " do you think you can tie me down with a baby? How am I sure, the baby is mine? You were not a virgin when I met you yet you will be singing in church as if you have been to heaven before. Call me when the baby is born, we will go and do a DNA test then I can be sure I am not fathering another man's child". Kola stormed out and that was the last time Wumi heard from him.
Wumi went on her knees and asked God to forgive her, she had sinned and now she had to live with this baby in her womb; a blessing in disguise. She asked for grace to face the shame and judgemental attitudes of people especially her church members.
The next 9 months was hell for Wumi, she was expelled from church and she was the topic of many sermons but she had peace within. God gave her joy and strength and in 9 months she gave birth to a handsome baby boy and named him Oluwafemi (God loves me).
Wumi gave birth during her NYSC year but God gave her so much favour, she served in an oil company and after 6 months, they made her a full staff, she began to rise until she became a manager at 28 then she met a man who loved her and her son and she married him. Everything turned out good for Wumi in the end.
Are you pregnant out of wedlock and you are thinking of aborting the baby? Don't do it! You may have made a mistake but God didn't make a mistake. If you honour God and fear Him by not aborting that baby, He will honour you.
Exodus 1:15-21 (NLT) 15Then Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, gave this order to the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah:16“When you help the Hebrew women as they give birth, watch as they deliver.c If the baby is a boy, kill him; if it is a girl, let her live.” 17But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king’s orders. They allowed the boys to live, too.
18So the king of Egypt called for the midwives. “Why have you done this?” he demanded. “Why have you allowed the boys to live?”
19“The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women,” the midwives replied. “They are more vigorous and have their babies so quickly that we cannot get there in time.”
If you will not bother about what people will say and just fear God and obey Him, He will bless you beyond your imagination. Don't think of how you will take care of the baby and what people will say, fear God and He will honour you.
If you decide to go ahead, God is a merciful God but there will be consequences; it could be that you may not have another baby, it may be that you will never find a man to marry you.
Abortion is a seed that you sow that goes into your future to multiply, honouring God by keeping that baby is also a seed that you sow that will multiply in your future. Do what will please God and it will be well with you.
Jesus is Lord. Shalom
