Your Talent is a Gift!

The first time music executives heard Elizabeth sing, they  cried. Her voice was so powerful; she always had that effect on people. When her first album was released, she sold out in just a week. Elizabeth became the first Nigerian to reach multi platinum status and the first Nigerian to win 6 Grammy awards.
At just 20, Elizabeth was a world class superstar. The fame began to take her toll on her, she was booked all year round, she didn't have enough time to rest, she couldn't go out without bodyguards because the fans kept screaming and trying to touch her. Many times, she was tired and she complained to her manager.
It started innocently enough; her manager advised that a few drags of cocaine would give her the needed strength to perform on stage and not get tired. She sniffed the cocaine and she liked it and then it became a habit until it became an addiction.
Elizabeth began to forget her lines and to cancel concerts. Her management kept her family and loved ones out of her life, it was almost impossible to reach her.
Nobody knew exactly how it happened, someone said she checked into a rehab, others said she overdosed. The world woke up one day to hear the news that Elizabeth, the most powerful and most accomplished singer the world had ever known was dead from a drug overdose at just 23 years old.
Her fans went crazy, they burnt down the recording label, beat the manager into a pulp and turned her house to a tourist attraction. The Nigerian government gave her a National burial. Everyone was saddened by how such a young, talented woman destroyed herself.
The bible says in Esther 4:14 For if you altogether hold your peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but you and your father's house shall be destroyed: and who knows whether you are come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Whenever God gives you a gift, the gift is not for you. What gift has God given you? Can you sing, dance, write, act, talk? You didn't have to work for it, He dropped it on you! God gave you free of charge! It's a national treasure God deposited in you and it is for the deliverance of many and for blessing millions of people.
You must know that your gift comes with responsibility, you mustn't be careless, proud or selfish, it's a gift! You must nurture and protect it because you will give account when you get to heaven.
You were a worship leader in church and God put you on a global platform now you have fame and fortune and then you suddenly forgot God and started sleeping with different women and trying to conform to the world. You don't even want to be called a gospel artist any longer, now you are a soul or inspirational singer.
Listen to me! God will not take back your gift because the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable (Romans 11:29) but He will raise up another to take your place. The end is never pleasant for such people.
May God help us all to understand the purpose of the gifts He has given to us may we not abuse them and may another never take our place in Jesus name.
