"You have been found guilty of manslaughter, your wicked deed has caused the deceased' family a lot of pain, you are therefore sentenced to death by firing squad"
Cries, screams and uproar went up in the court. George could not believe his ears, was this how he would die? He started to scream and shout "I am innocent, I am innocent", he looked back at the pew and he saw his mum crying uncontrollably, something snapped in him and he wanted to break out of the handcuffs and just hug her even if it was for a last time but he couldn't, his heart was broken and all he did was just to cry like a baby, the mucus was running from his nose to his mouth and he was sweating profusely in the prison yellow shirt on yellow shorts uniform.
Where had he gone wrong? He was coming back from church one evening when he heard a lady screaming for help, as he approached the noise, he saw 4 men holding down a lady and one of them raping her, he saw that they were taking turns then he shouted "stop that!" When the men saw him, they took to their heels. As he was about to help the lady get up and put on her clothes, she suddenly slumped and died. He was still trying to resuscitate her when the police came. He was the only one on the scene and the key witness which was the girl was dead. That's how he ended up on death row.
George got to his prison cell and began to pray, suddenly he heard his name, he had a visitor, it was the prison pastor. The man looked at him and said, " God said I should tell you that you will not die, you will be vindicated and you will regain your freedom". George received the word but he could not think of how God wanted to do the miracle so he began to praise God, he danced and praised till he slept.
"Mr. George Ikenna"! George felt a chill go up his spine, he would be facing the firing squad today, where was God? Had He not sent a prophet to him? Was the man a liar? George sobbed uncontrollably as they led him out of the prison into the black maria. They got to the firing squad and tied him to the board. He looked at the soldiers as their captain shouted "get ready" and then he closed his eyes. All he could say was "Thank You Jesus". He was expecting bullets to hit him but nothing happened, he kept his eyes shut for a long time because he didn't want to be caught unawares but still nothing happened then he opened his eyes.
He saw the prison superintendent walking towards him with his mum at his back and he knew God had done it! "Mr George, we are so sorry, the real criminals have been caught, you are free to go". George hugged his mum tightly and they cried uncontrollably and then they lay on the floor and began to worship Jehovah who did not let George die a like chicken.
Beloved, the difference between God and humans is in Numbers 23:19 (NLT) God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
Whatever it is God has told you this year will come to pass, it may be a long time coming, it may not look like it but if He has said it to you either through your pastor, your bible or the Holy Spirit whispered it to you, it will come to pass! You may not know how it will happen but it will! I want you to meditate on Numbers 23:19 build your life around that scripture and you will never be disappointed.
