Mark 10:28-30 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”

29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.

  

It has become the norm for both Christians and unbelievers to condemn and persecute successful men of God. If you believed God to heal you when you were sick and you believed God to get you that job and that contract, why do you think that God will deny those who have left everything to follow Him a 100 fold return? It's not about your tithe or your offering, it's written in black and white in the Bible, God says He will multiply everything for those who have left everything to follow Him.

 These men of God left their careers, families, businesses, sold their cars and went hungry for the sake of the gospel. You did not know when Bishop Oyedepo sold his first car to buy equipment for the church, neither did you know when Pastor Adeboye cleared a small bush at the present Redeemed camp and was sleeping there simply because God asked him to. You were not there when Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA was living in a one room apartment without a proper kitchen neither were you there when Pastor Paul Adefarasin would pray from dusk till dawn asking God to change Nigeria through him. You were not there when Dr. Mike Murdock lost everything and recovered all through seed faith neither were you there when Pastor Kenneth Copeland was drowning in debt till he saw "owe no man nothing but love" (Romans 13:8) in the Bible and he started believing God to take him out of poverty. 

You say they don't care about the poor, really? Dr. Mike Murdock feeds over 1000 people everyday and he has been doing that for at least 5 years now, Pastor Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo have welfare programmes for millions of people, it's simply because they don't publicise such, it is in line with what Jesus said in Matthew 6; 1-4

Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

 Now God has began to bring the hundred fold return of these men of God and here you are condemning them! I urge us to be careful; you may be biting more than you can chew. God promises to bless those who bless those who follow Him, these are the blessings these men enjoy, God also promises to curse those who curse His followers. You could attract curses to your life by saying things you know nothing about. Anytime you say "these pastors are thieves" without proof of justifying what you said, you have attracted a curse to your life. Remember, God does not lie, this is the word of God written in Genesis 12:3. May God help us.

Rev.Dr. Felix Omobude Testifies!

I am very humbled to be sharing the story of this amazing Man of God, I have been chasing this interview for close to a year and here we are! Rev. Felix Omobude is the General Superintendent of the New Covenant Gospel Church and also the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.

 Rev. Omobude has been in ministry for 43 years and Benin, Edo State, Nigeria has been his headquarters. Papa is one of the most gifted  preachers Nigeria has ever produced and he preaches a storm whenever he mounts that podium. It is indeed a privilege for me.

 In this rare interview, he shares on how he met Jesus, his relationship with the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, his great faith moments, God's plan for Nigeria and how he met his wife; Rev Abiola Omobude, he had some really sweet words for her. Enjoy...

MTB:  How did you become born again?

Rev. Omobude; 1971, I can never forget that I made that great decision at the crusade ground at Ogbe Stadium, Benin City, Nigeria.  I was in that ground as a cynic with two other close friends, we looked at the preacher, he was sharp but we were trying to correct his grammar. The voice of the preacher Arch. Benson Idahosa was insistent and powerful ‘come unto me all those who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest’. I can never forget my situation when this invitation was extended to me some years ago.

I had some education and exposure and I headed a group called the Nigerian Education Soviet Friendship Association. We operated with the soviet mentality, challenging proponents laying claims to the existence of God. We were so tutored and we read books on ‘Learning Sin’.

I would stand to address students against what those from the western world and missionaries who came during the colonial era with a little book called the Bible into Africa and Nigeria had taught them. By this book, I thought they deceived us, took away our resources, oil, rubber, cocoa, and so on. I did this at the time because I thought I was right but deep down within, I was miserable until I heard ‘come unto me... I could hear the voice asking me to come because He knew my situation and all about my life. “You think you are living but you are not. Come because you are tired of carrying a load heavier than you, I want to give you rest”.

From the corner we were standing, suddenly I stepped out to answer the call but my two friends wondered and said to me “Felix, where are you going? Come back. You are too intelligent for this. Come back”. In retrospect, I am glad I heeded the call. My other two friends; one died a few years later and went to a Christ less grave. The other is now a retired civil servant and still criticising the Christian faith with wrinkles all over his face because you really cannot be an effective critic while wearing a smile.

MTB; What was your relationship with the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa?

Rev. Omobude; I have never known any other pastor in my life other than Archbishop Benson Idahosa. We were at the middle of a service and the Man of God said empty everything that you have. It was like a joke, some grumbled and left but we did. We trekked from miracle centre at Airport road GRA, Benin down home. I believed my pastor.

 I was going to school in America and I went to him; of course it was through his help that I would be schooling abroad. Then he said ‘kneel down’ and I did. He said “Omobude, your gift will make room for you”. He put his hand on me and prayed for me then he put his hand in his pocket and gave me a 100 dollar bill and a copy of a New Testament Bible. I got up and I was staring at him, I know he has lots of friends, I thought he would ask me to take a card and meet someone but he said “ You go! Your gift will open doors for you”. I never took his words lightly. A copy of that New Testament Bible that he signed is still with me today.’

Kayode’s Story

It was a happy day, the day I met Olubunmi. We became friends through a business contact who was my course mate during my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree programme. I wanted to buy a car then but for some reasons I didn’t eventually buy the car through her but we continued to be friends.

As a matter of principle, since May 2008, I wait on God once in a month for my family, especially for my wife-to-be. In 2008, God gave me some instructions and directions on how to identify my wife.

How did you get involved in missionary work?

It was in the year 2003 while I was a deliverance minister with Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries that I had a vision in the night and God spoke to me saying “My son I have commissioned you to preach Christ where no one has ever preached Him”

In 2004 I was transferred from Karu branch to Utako Regional Headquarters and after about 3 weeks I was transferred a second time in one month to Kebbi state. On the 5th of June I arrived at Kebbi state and wanted to leave immediately for Abuja where I came from because the sight of the Kebbi environment was disgusting to me but in the night of that very day I had another vision. In the vision, God spoke to me saying “My son, remain behind and I will make water flow for you in this desert”. It was at this juncture that I realized that this could be a way through which the vision of preaching Christ where no one has preached Him could be fulfilled and I decided to remain behind.

In March 2006, God gave me a marching order to leave Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries to kick start a missionary sensitive ministry where I can fulfil the vision of taking the gospel to the unreached peoples group. On the 7th day of May 2006, Christ Reconciliation and Deliverance Ministry (CRDM) was founded with the vision to preach Christ where no one has preached Him. I immediately constituted the Mission Team with the responsibilities to spiritually map and identify communities and villages where the name of Jesus has not been mentioned taking Kebbi and Niger states as our pilot target areas. These villages are found among Hausa/Fulani, Dukawa, Kambari, Achipawa, Laru, Bisa, Shangawa and Zabramawa ethnic groups.

In 2007 we took a bold step to reach out to these unreached people groups with the word of God in one hand and the act of charity in the other hand. This is how I got involved in missionary work; it was in obedient to heavenly vision.

How long have you been a missionary?

I have been a missionary and church planter for 8 years.

What are the challenges that you have faced?

The challenges have been enormous but the grace of God has been sufficient. Religious intolerance and persecution has hindered our progress so much, fear of attacks from Islamic extremists has tremendously affected our staff strength. We have been harassed, intimidated and threatened to stop preaching Christ in the villages of Northern Nigeria but the grace to continue has been bestowed on us by the Almighty.

Insufficient finance and materials for distribution to the poor is also a challenge. Missionary work is financially intensive especially when you are reaching the unreached. Our target groups are the poorest of the poor, they are naked, hungry and sick. The children do not go to school because there are no schools; the villagers drink dirty water and are always sick and prone to water borne diseases. We minister to them with Bible in one hand and materials in the other hand and most often we are constrained by lack of finance and materials even when our Bible is readily in our hands. I consider it criminal negligence to preach Christ to them and leave their physical needs unaddressed. We struggle every month to pay salaries to our missionaries, this is a serious challenge.

We do not have 4 wheel drive vehicles to pass through the terrible roads that lead to our target areas. All our target areas are located in the bushes without access roads. We usually hire motorcycles at exorbitant prices and at times we hire wrong people to go to the field since Christian motorcyclists are very few, even when we have materials we find it difficult to convey them to the fields. We have not been able to provide motorcycles to all our missionaries and some of them find it difficult to mobilize to the fields without motorcycle, this is a great challenge.

We have seriously faced the challenge of inadequate hands to execute our action plans. We adopted the missiological strategy to use indigenous missionaries of Northern origin to disciple our converts in the fields and this has been working wonderfully except that at times we find it difficult to access mission minded people  who are willing to be trained. We are currently praying that the Lord of Harvest will give us labourers and give us resources to take care of the labourers.

We have been terribly challenged by spiritual forces and territorial powers ruling the environments of our interventions, our last trip on the 14th of June 2014 attracted severe attacks. A serpent physically came to attack us in our local hotel room where we lodged to continue the journey the next day and God gave us victory when we confronted the serpent and it disappeared.

I have met many men of God but Rev.Don Odunze Jnr is rare. His understanding and insight into the word of God is so deep, his preaching style is so simple;  everyone gets the message. This man of God carries a rare heavyweight anointing to heal relationships and marriages and I was privileged to be one of the many people that attended the Marriage and Relationship Seminar that was organised by Pastor Iyke Samuels of House On The Rock, Benin.

Rev. Don Odunze Jnr; My father led me to Christ on the 3^rd of March 1980, I  was in class 1, I was in boarding house and it was my birthday. I didn’t want to serve God because my family were Christians, it was a personal choice.
